Little Rock, Arkansas — On November 22, 2022, Sergeant Jeff Preston was parked at the exit 24 overpass on I-530 when he saw the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Tyrese Lancaster, speeding over the overpass going fast in the left lane to which he then turns on his rear speed radar. The radar clocked the vehicle going 90 miles per hour in a 75-mile-an-hour zone. When trooper attempted to make a traffic stop Lancaster sped off, at which point the trooper said he began a pursuit of Lancaster. As the trooper and Lancaster approached the exit ramp 32 overpass area, Trooper Terrell Pratt then joined Preston on the chase and Pratt became the primary unit. Lancaster took exit 35 and that is when he lost control of his vehicle, hitting the guard rail which resulted in a dust cloud. The vehicle stopped on top of the overpass and Hinton was able to block off half the travel on the road. Trooper Pratt simultaneously drove through the plume of dust and began braking.

He was able to steer clear of TFC. Hinton's unit, but he could not avoid impacting Lancaster's vehicle, which was disabled on the remaining portion of the roadway. The front bumper of Trooper Pratt's unit collided with the front bumper of the Lancaster's vehicle. Lancaster was then taken into custody without further incident. During the administrative inventory of the vehicle, Troopers found a gym bag with men's clothing in the rear seat that contained four unopened 12 oz. Bud-Light beers. EASI ambulance services treated him at the scene for minor scrapes and bruises. Trooper Pratt was also assessed at the scene but did not require transport. Lancaster was transported to Troop E Headquarters for questioning and then to the Dub Brassell Detention Center. Lancaster was booked for the fleeing-in vehicle, the substantial danger of death, misdemeanor citation, speeding 1 to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit, reckless driving, no seat belt, and the possession or purchase of alcohol by minor.
