Arizona laws that affect gun ownership

1912 - Arizona Statehood: Upon becoming a state, Arizona adopted the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment, which protects the right to bear arms.

1913 - Concealed carry permit law: Arizona became the first state to require a permit for concealed carry of firearms.

1934 - National Firearms Act (NFA): This federal law regulates the manufacture, sale, and possession of machine guns, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, suppressors, and other firearms deemed by the government to be particularly dangerous.

1968 - Gun Control Act (GCA): This federal law regulates the firearms industry and prohibits certain groups of people, such as convicted felons, from owning firearms.

1994 - Assault Weapons Ban: This federal law prohibited the manufacture, sale, and possession of certain firearms deemed to be "assault weapons."
