A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Kalifornsky, Kenai Peninsula County, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Sunday 14 February 2021 at 9:37 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 22 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Clam Gulch, located 8 miles from the epicenter, Cohoe, 15 miles away, Kalifornsky, 18 miles away, Soldotna, 23 miles away, Kenai, 28 miles away, and Sterling, 30 miles away.
