Air Canada gave out $10M in bonuses amid bailout negotiations with Ottawa

Air Canada’s top executives and eligible management received $10 million worth of COVID-19-specific bonuses, as well as special share purchase options to offset base salary cuts over the last year, CTV News has confirmed.

The “COVID-19 Pandemic Mitigation Bonus” was awarded based on management’s “exceptional performance during this unprecedented period,” reads the company’s management proxy circular provided to shareholders.

While the board actually approved $20 million worth of compensation, representing 50 per cent of the annual incentive plan for 2020, half of that amount was dished out.

'I cry all the time': Bernardo denied parole after 25 years in prison

As he made his first pitch for parole after 25 years in prison for some of the most horrific crimes in Canadian history, Paul Bernardo was eager, agreeable, strangely docile and unfocused.

He claimed to have discovered and confronted the psychological reasons for his sadistic sexual atrocities, including a series of rapes and the murders of two teenage girls. He said they stemmed from low self-esteem, misguided coping mechanisms, “cognitive distortions” and the disinhibitory effects of stress and alcohol.

Federal agents arrested a Detroit rapper accused of flashing an illegal machine gun during an Instagram Live video and prosecutors say they have linked one of his firearms to seven shootings.

Convicted felon Delmarco Craig, 22, a rapper known as "The Big Homie," is prohibited from possessing firearms but prosecutors say he held a machine gun and other firearms during the Instagram video, including a Glock pistol equipped with a device that converted the semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic machine gun.

10 reasons why I hate the name ‘Edmonton Elks’

Full disclosure: I was ready to write this article no matter what Edmonton’s new name was.

I am an unapologetic Stampeders fan, so nothing the Edmonton Football Club chose to do would have made me do anything beyond hating a new word in the dictionary.

That said, let me tell you why the Elks name and logo are misses for me.

The S

Why, oh why, is this plural? Adding the S makes it a bit of a joke to Canadians who never say, “Look at those elks over there!”

The AR-15 is Not an Assault Weapon

I would like to offer some education to my fellow Americans. This has nothing to do with political views, or recent events. I am not going to call anyone stupid, or belittle your intelligence. I have read a lot of posts on social media that have shown me that many people simply do not know enough about firearms to defend themselves from the emotional misinformation that is continually spread by the media. This has lead to millions of people continuing to spread this misinformation through more emotional posts in response to events that are shamelessly used to further a political agenda.
