The idea must be a throw off from what the real ancient satan-race tried to do millions of years ago... All the old vampire movies are about sucking the life out of the innocent, usually. I remember one movie where a vampire cringed at the taste of the blood as bitter from a murderous thug.
Hollywood tries to sell the idea that eternal youth makes it worth it. But is not likely that adrenochrome will add too many years of life onto a spiritually deadening soul-fragment decaying from the inside-out.
Selling the idea from Hollywood is more for the demoralization of the public than it is to advertise the elixir of youth.
